How to Play
- Choose a game type: Highest unique, Lowest unique or Two-thirds of average.
- Each round, tap a number and then tap Lock in. Your choice stays secret.
- When the last player has locked in, every number is revealed together.
- The round winner scores one point. Numbers that were picked more than once are struck out.
- After five rounds, the player with the most points wins.
Rules
In Highest unique, numbers run from 1 to 20. The highest number that only one player chose wins the round. If three people pick 20 and two pick 19, those numbers are all knocked out, and an 18 picked by one player alone takes the point.
In Lowest unique, the range is again 1 to 20, but now the lowest number picked by exactly one player wins. If every number was picked at least twice, nobody scores that round.
In Two-thirds of average, everyone picks from 0 to 100. The app adds up all the picks, finds the average and multiplies it by two-thirds. The player closest to that target wins. Here duplicates are allowed, and if several players are equally close they all score.
Tips & Strategy
- The obvious number is a trap. In Highest unique, many players reach for 20, which often cancels itself out. A slightly lower number, like 17 or 18, is often the real winner.
- Think one step further than the group. If you expect others to avoid 20, then 20 may become safe again. Good players ask, "What will they think I think?"
- Low numbers crowd up fast. In Lowest unique, 1 and 2 are popular. A number like 4 or 5 often survives because everyone is busy fighting over the smallest ones.
- Two-thirds rewards careful thinking. If everyone picked at random, the average would be near 50, so the target would be about 33. But if everyone thinks that, the target drops to about 22, then 15, and so on. Guess how many steps your group will take.
- Watch the history. People repeat favourite numbers. After a couple of rounds, the pattern of who picks what is the best clue you have.
Game Modes
Play vs Computer puts you against two to five computer players. Easy picks at random. Medium follows simple hunches, such as staying high but not too high. Hard thinks a few steps ahead about what the group is likely to pick and learns from everyone's earlier rounds. The computer never sees your number before the reveal.
Play with Friends uses one device. A cover screen appears before each player's turn, so every pick stays private, and the reveal is shown to everyone at the end of the round.
Play Online lets two to ten people play on their own phones at the same time.
Play with Friends Online
Tap Play Online, create a room and send the invite link or room code to your group. Up to ten friends can join from any phone or computer, with nothing to install. The host chooses the game type and starts the match. During a round you can see who has locked in, but not their numbers. Every pick is revealed together with a short animation, the struck-out duplicates and the winner's trophy, so the whole group gets the same gasp at the same moment.
Unique Number FAQ
What does "unique" mean here?
A unique number is one that only a single player chose. Any number that two or more players picked is struck out and cannot win the round.
What happens when nobody has a unique number?
In Highest unique and Lowest unique, nobody scores that round. It happens more often than you might expect in small groups.
How is the two-thirds target worked out?
All the picks are added and divided by the number of players to get the average. That average is multiplied by two-thirds. For example, an average of 45 gives a target of 30.
Can two players win the same round?
Only in Two-thirds of average, when two players are exactly as close to the target. Both of them get a point.
Is the Hard computer really harder?
Yes. It studies the numbers everyone picked in earlier rounds and chooses the number most likely to win, so repeating the same favourite number against it is risky.
